Two stunning houses, Surf Lodge and Surf House Portugal, connected via a picturesque piece of property! Surf Lodge Portugal offers amazing accommodation with views of the Atlantic while surrounded with the Algarve’s finest surf spots.
Surf Lodge Portugal is the perfect spot if you want a fun, chilled and comfortable holiday with perfect waves.
The terraced pool area is the hub of the lodge. In between surf sessions you can chill in the pool, lounge around on the comfortable deck chairs or move to the garden and use the hammocks that swing in the shade of the palm trees. It really is the quintessential holiday picture. In the evenings, the bar is a great place to swap surf stories while enjoying a drink and staring of across the nature reserve towards the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean. If you want to move inside you can still enjoy the ocean view from the winter garden that’s joined to the terrace.
The Surf House also sits on the property and is the perfect option for anyone looking for a quiet and relaxed place to unwind from the stress of real life while catching great waves.
The Surf house is connected to the Surf Lodge through the garden, here however, you have a calmer atmosphere with a big and comfortable living and dining area, new furnishings and the same great view as the Lodge. If you want to go for a swim in the pool, or grab a drink from the bar, you can easily walk across to the surf lodge and hang out in the communal areas.
The property is located in the heart of the Algarve where the sun shines 300 days a year. This means regardless if you are floating around in the pool, laying on the lounge chairs on the terrace, walking along the beach or are out in the ocean surfing, you’ll be doing it in blazing sunshine. In the garden area that joins the two houses you’ll find hammocks, palm trees and a wooden decked area where the yoga classes take place that also has an outdoor shower. At the camp you have surfboard racks, rental boards and wetsuits as well as plenty of space to park your car if you drove.
Ingrina & Sagres:
Ingrina is a small village situated in the middle of a giant nature reserve in the heart of the Algarve. The lodge itself is 5 minutes away from the beach on foot and the next beach of Zavial is only a couple of minutes more. Here you can surf and soak up the sun. Sagres is only a few kilometres away and is easily accessible by car. In Sagres you have great restaurants and cafes, surf shops, as well as bars and nightclubs if you want to do a little partying during your holiday.
The coastline around Ingrina and Sagres is littered with spectacular cliff top viewpoints where you can check out the stunning natural beauty of the area and also discover more of the countless surf spots. If you take the road from Sagres to São Vicente all the way to the end you’ll come to the former edge of the world. When you stand here next to lighthouse of Cabo de São Vicente you’ll have 5,000km of water in front of you to the west, and 10,000km of land behind you to the east, as well as an amazing view that people have marvelled at for thousands of years.
The spectacular coastal landscape:
When you stand on the terrace at Surf Lodge Portugal, the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean to the south will take your breath away, and then, when you start to explore the beaches and coves of the area you will only be more amazed. In 2011 Zavial beach, which is maybe 8 minutes away on foot, was voted 3rd most beautiful beach in the world. During your stay definitely take the time to explore around the bay and go through the forests and up on the cliff tops to see it from all perspectives.
Culinary highlights:
Next to the beaches at Zavial and Ingrina you’ll find two romantic restaurants that serve the best, and freshest, seafood in the Algarve. The extremely friendly staff will make you feel at home and recommend the best local Vino Verde to accompany your meal. And for your sweet tooth, the ice cream at ‘Alice’ in Sagres directly next to the Pure Surf Shop is out of this world.
Julie
Julie has been managing Surf Lodge Portugal for 2 years, and is still just as excited today about waking up in Portugals beautiful Algarve to a stunning view over the nature reserve out towards the Atlantic Ocean. She has also caught the surf bug and gets out in the waves whenever she can.
Sven
The cook, the barman, the born entertainer, Sven makes sure you’re having a great time during your stay. Twice a week he’ll get behind the grill and whip up his famous burgers. He moved to Portugal 12 years ago and has become a true local, getting to know the coast like no other.
Franzi
You’ll find Franzi in our Portugal office running the show. She makes sure you’re bookings and travel plans run smoothly. She is always happy to help with any problems you might be having in regards to your trip. She’s lived in Sagres for the past 12 years with the world famous board shaper Uwe and her son.
Mick
The barman at Sea View originally comes from Holland. He's the guy that'll be making your cocktails and pouring your beers in the evenings. He's also musically gifted so if you're lucky he'll whip out the guitar and play a few tunes.
Lisa
Lisa was drawn to the ocean and decided to become part of the team to spend some time a stones throw away from it. She cooks your spectacular meals during your stay, joins for drinks & parties, and you'll even see her out in the surf. She's always in a good mood, and constantly has a massive smile on her face.

Most beginners will start on the mellow beach break of Praia do Amado that gets consistent surf all year long and is also visually stunning and perfect for long beach walks after your surf sessions. Nearby to the camp you also have Praia da Castelejo and Praia da Cordama that are great for beginners but also more advanced surfers, these spots are also more sheltered from the wind making the waves cleaner and providing longer rides.
On the south coast, 5-minutes from camp, you have the point break Zavial, that works best with a southerly swell, and in Sagres you can surf Tonel. Both are a little more advanced but are great point breaks where you will get super long rides.
At Surf Lodge and Surf House Portugal you can rent a board directly from the camp. They have a large surfboard quiver and are more than happy to help you find out what sort of board you need, taking into account your skill level, size, and the types of waves you are going to be catching. Yoga is a great way to relief the strain of yesterdays surf session and get your body and mind prepared for the next time you hit the water. Throughout the surfing community yoga has been becoming more and more popular for good reason. The way it works muscles and tendons compliments the strain that surfing puts on them perfectly, all while relaxing the mind and getting you to take control of your breathing, both of which are also vital when you are in the ocean.
Explore the underwater world and swim with the local fish of Portugal. At Surf Lodge and Surf House Portugal we can set you up with a Dive course or tour. You get to experience a completely foreign underwater environment with beautiful colours and an abundance of underwater life. The local beaches of Ingrina and Zavial are perfect to dive and snorkel with hidden sheltered coves and rock bottoms that provide amazing visibility.
We can set you up with a local dive instructor who will give you free introductory course in the pool, then take you out into the ocean where you’ll do a 6-hour course split up over a few days going to a maximum depth of around 8 meters.
Day or Night trip to Lagos
Lagos is about 20 minutes away in the car and has a stunning harbour as well as a very pretty, and lively old inner city. You’ll find great restaurants serving traditional Portuguese cuisine, fresh sushi places and pizzerias. The town sits on the waters edge and has a huge harbour meaning the fish that is served is always fresh and delicious. At night Lagos is no slouch either. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs that are open well into the night with locals who definitely know how to party.
Our tip: If you’re there during the day take a boat or kayak tour. You can cruise around and explore the area from a different perspective, getting to sneak into some super secluded bays, small caves and coves along the coastline you wouldn’t normally see. If you’re there at the right time of year you might also be lucky enough to run into a pod of dolphins.
Shop, party and sightsee in Sagres
The neighbouring town of Sagres offers not only some great shopping in small, but well stocked surf shops, but also great restaurant serving the freshest seafood, and bars and nightclubs where you can party into the early morning. At least twice a week the crew from the camp make the short trip to Sagres to get some dinner with the guests, and then check out some local nightlife.
The boat tours available are also extremely nice and offer a different perspective to the area surrounding the camp. On the boat tours you’ll also cruise past the lighthouse at Cabo de São Vicente, which is even more amazing from the sea as it is from land. Depending what time of year you are there you can also go on a Dolphin watching tour. If you want to stay on land you can also go for a walk around the harbour and see what the locals caught that day, or look at the fort in Sagres. A real highlight is watching the sunset while standing on the most south-western point of Europe at Cabo de São Vicente where the lighthouse is located, which was once the edge of the world.
While on a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) you work on your fitness and balance while getting to explore the natural beauty of the Algarve coast. More advanced paddle boarders can take a couple of powerful strokes and get themselves into some pretty serious surf.
There are also tours available where a local expert will show you the ropes, then take you around the coast for a couple of hours showing you some secret spots as well as some cliffs to jump from into the clear, blue, Atlantic Ocean. Ask the team at Surf House and Surf Lodge Portugal and they’ll point in the right direction of a company that offers what you are wanting to do.
The ocean around the Algarve is perfect for all the water activities you can think of, including snorkelling.
You can borrow snorkelling gear free of charge from Surf Lodge Portugal and get out and explore the underwater world at the nearby beaches of Ingrina and Zavial. Both bays are rock bottomed once you get away from the beach, which provide great visibility. Both these bays also have an abundance of fish and other underwater life. You can easily walk to Ingrina in 10 minutes from the lodge, so its a perfect activity for a relaxed afternoon down at the beach.
Here’s a small list of other activities that are available while you’re not out doing a surf course or free surfing:

Portugal / Algarve, ca. 6km away from Sagres and 15 km from Lagos. Faro Airport is 60km, and Lisbon is 280km.
We offer an extra service where we will find you a cheap, available flight. We’ll double-check the prices and availability and will contact you with the final offer. Cheap flights are available starting from as little as 600 kr! Best option is to fly directly to Faro (FAO) and then book an airport transfer.
For those of you who would rather find and book flights yourself we recommend Skyscanner which will give you a good overview of the available flights and where they depart from. An alternative is Kayak. These two flight search sites look through all airlines apart from RyanAir
Cheap Airlines from the UK:
RyanAir and Easyjet provide cheap and easy ways to get to Faro, Portugal from most airports in and around all major centres in the UK.
Shuttle:
Faro: Surf Lodge and Surf House Portugal offer a shuttle service that will either pick you up from Faro Airport (FAO) and bring you directly to the camp or vice versa. The trip takes about 60 minutes one-way, and costs 639 kr per trip, divided equally among the passengers.
Lagos: If you make your own way to Lagos with either the bus or train we’ll be happy to pick you up and take you the rest of the way to our camp. The pick-up / drop-of costs 189 kr with the price being divided among the passengers.
Send us an email once you have booked with your arrival time and flight number, or train/bus number, and we can make arrangements to pick you up. The contact email address of the camp manager is on the invoice from Pure Surf Camps.
Public Transport:
Another option is to catch the Faro Shuttle bus for 189 kr per person that takes you from Faro airport to Raposeira where we can pick you up free of charge as its just down the road. You can pre-book the shuttle through their website at Faro Shuttles. The shuttle takes a lot longer as it makes stops in every town a village from the airport to Raposeira. When you book the shuttle make Sagres your final destination and tell the driver when you get on that you’d like to get of at Raposeira.
We recommend renting a car! In Portugal there are very cheap rental cars available that start at 600 kr per week. At Sunny Cars you'll find the cheapest rental cars around! Getting a rental car will allow you to spontaneously explore the coastline. It will also give you the freedom to take early morning drives up the coast to go to your favourite surf spot and be first in the water.
From Faro to Surf Camp Algarve? From the airport drive in the direction of Albufeira / Portimao then onto the A22 heading towards Lagos. Once in Lagos change onto the N 125 in the direction Vila do Bispo / Sagres. In Raposeira turn left at the intersection a continue towards Ingrina/Zavial taking the second possible right that leads you towards Ingrina. When you're on this road keep and eye out for 3 massive palm trees, after them turn right and you're at the camp. YOU MADE IT!!! To Surf Lodge and Surf House Portugal. The trip usually takes around an hour.
